Starting Ancillary Businessss

Hey all! My husband and I hope to start some ancillary businesses that compliment our rental business. (General contracting/ HVAC business/ peppery managemnt) We basically want to build these businesses and oversee them by putting together great teams. My question is, do we have to have all of the required licenses for these fields or can we hire people that do and still be owners of the business? For example, you have to have your brokers license for a property management firm in OH. I’m not interested in being an agent. My husband is considering getting his GC license but at the end of the day he doesn’t want to be running job sites.
