Besides Real Estate, How are you Protecting Your Money?

I as reading about some technical signals in the stock market, specifically the 'Hindenburg Omen', and started thinking about the state of our economy, inflation, the markets, and how I'm managing my money. Of course, I began to wonder if I'm doing all I can to protect myself and family in case the market or economy does crash.

With that in mind, I wanted to get the feedback from the minds here on BP about what you're doing to protect your money? How are you balancing your portfolio besides real estate?

Commodities? Which ones?
Metals?
Contrarian funds or ETFs?
Contrarian stocks?
Bonds?

I look forward to hearing how you guys are protecting yourselves . . . (and no, we're not going to talk about stockpiling guns, ammo, food, etc. -- that's not where I'm going with this)

The floor is yours!

Josh- you don't want to hear it, but in drastic times, if you don't have food and water, the rest won't matter. On the other items, same as I've posted before in more detail. Not just real estate but:

1. a grouping of properties f&c
2. a grouping mortgaged to the hilt
(this hedges my bet both on inflation and possible continued deflation)
3. significant cash- minimum 6 months supply for anyone and more for those capable of reserving more cash
4. Gold in small ingots. 1/10 and 1/4 oz
5. silver- in junk silver coins- pre 1964
6. A real well drawn irrevocable trust.

I'm not doing any of this with eye to increasing estate. All of the items listed are for preservation of existing estate condition. Rich
