I just watched the movie The Founder on Netflix. I would definitely recommend the movie. I knew a bit about the McDonald's story and Ray Kroc before watching it, but I thought it was really interesting. One of the most interesting thing about the McDonald's success story which is mentioned in the movie is that while Ray Kroc was a great salesman/businessman  and expanded quickly ..it wasn't until he got in to the real estate business by owning the land that his franchisee's locations sat on.. that he was really able to make real money and build real assets from the business.

He was definitely a hustler although a bit unethical in ways at least as the film portrays him, but definitely a super ambitious businessman with vision.

As a result of investing in real estate early. McDonald's is now one of the largest owners of commercial real estate in the world.

The film was really well done too. Go watch it!
