Hey folks,

I've been binge listening to the podcasts like there is no tomorrow.  Literally, I don't even listen to music while I workout anymore.  Instead I'm blasting through material at a time and half in an effort to learn as much as I can as I hunt for a deal.

I recently responded to a craigslist ad posted in the "real estate for sale by owner" section.  The ad stated that a "successful real estate investor" was looking for a hand full of "mentees" to learn his strategy and work alongside of him.  During my phone conversation with the "successful real estate investor," he stated that he will teach me his system over the course of six months and upon my grasping of his concept, he will be my private money lender.  He will guide me through the deals and be my mentor through every step of the way.  Ofcourse, here is the caveat...he wants $2000 for program.  Everything in me screams "GURU ALERT!"  Although I'm entertaining the idea of meeting up with this guy and seeing his portfolio.  Just to try to scope out what he might be about.  He claims that he doesn't have a website, he just "does deals," (apartments, commercial buildings etc).

I'm thinking perhaps negotiating a way to give him this $2000 after I close a deal using his system.  Am I wasting my time even thinking about this or is there some potential here.
