Firing an On-sight Manager with Lease in Rent Controlled City

I'm taking over management of a 50 unit building in Los Angeles (Rent Control).  The owner does not care for and wishes to replace the current on-sight manager in the building.  However, the on-sight manager has a lease until Feb 2016.  Any thoughts on how to handle this issue?  I plan to call the city in the morning as well as the Apartment Owners Association, but I thought I would check in with my BP colleagues for any practical insight on the topic.  Thank you!
