I Have a Confession . . .

Okay, so I'm new here, and what better way to kick off my membership than with a healthy confession.

I currently own a few properties in Alabama that are fully occupied. One of my tenants is an absolute nightmare. I was cursing to myself about it when I came to an unavoidable realization. I USED TO BE THAT TENANT.

Back in my college days I was the tenant that always paid late late. I always complained about the littlest of things. I covered up my own damages. For example, I once filled an 8 inch hole in the drywall with a crap-load of plaster. I "Repaired" a bleach stain in a maroon carpet with a variety of colored permanent marker (Quite well I might add).

Yeah... I'm probably in the beginning stages of delayed karma. I can only ask God to be gentle at this point.

When I moved out of the apartment that I rented with three buddies in college, I asked the landlord for the security deposit and that's when he lost it. Apparently, the mess we left behind was so grand, he had to do a semi-rehab. Now, I was always the neat one out of the four :-)

Now, I have several rentals and I try to do everything I can to make sure the tenants are happy. If karma is real, I'm in trouble. :-)
