Posting on Biggerpockets. Hints to get the answers you are looking for.
If you want your questions answered, feedback on your deals, etc. here's some of the leading reasons why posts aren't answered.
- Post your comment, questions, etc. in the correct forum. Many members have forums that they follow, have keyword alerts, etc. If you post in the wrong forum, you won't get the results you can get if it's posted correctly. There's a forum for almost everything, just take a few seconds and scan the list.
- Investor Deal Diaries is for "diaries" of ongoing projects that will be documented, such as major rehabs, construction, land development, etc. If you're posting questions on financing, or something else, the members you need to see it probably won't. The same goes for every forum.
- Make your subject line relevant, and specific. Just putting "help" probably isn't going to get anyone clicking in to read.
- Try to be as specific as you can about your deal, your experience, etc. The more someone knows about what it is you are trying to achieve, what you have to work with in the way of experience, training, resources, the more relevant the answer.
- If you've just joined and only have a few posts under your belt, don't get discouraged when you post wanting partners, money, etc. and nobody is interested. To get the value out of Biggerpockets you must let others see the value in doing business with you. Post on a consistent basis, network with other members, and let people get to know you just as in any other situation.
- Make sure you set up your keywords, such as for the geographical area you're interested in, type property, financing you're looking for, or whatever else would help narrow down your interests. Then, when that subject is being discussed, you will get keyword alerts.
- Finally, be sure to upload a profile pic. People like to "see" who they are dealing with. If for some reason you don't want your personal photo online, upload a local landmark, hobby, etc. (make sure it's not copyrighted) Also, if you use your last name, it's easier for those trying to tag you.
Hope some of this helps you get the answers you're looking for! See you around the forums.
