Donating your unwanted property to charity

My husband myself recently were inherited with his mother's home after she passed away. Being quite busy with our own lives we had not considered the amount of time and work that was needed to sell the house in today's market. The appliances and much of the interior was dated but still in very good shape. After looking at what might be in the upwards of $30,000 to update the house and paying HOA fees of $175 per month we decided that the best thing for us both was to donate the property to charity. WE researched several charities and found the real estate with causes charity that supports several of the charities that are close to mine and my husband's heart. We were able to benefit quite greatly from the tax deduction as well as let go of an unwanted property as soon as possible. We did have to pay for an appraiser and pay for the home owners fees as the process was going by but I honestly feel that these small financial necessities were worth and hassle or issues that we would have had to make if we had not donated. The With Causes Charity Organization made this an easy and fulfilling process as I know that the donation will go towards helping those in need.
