When I have messages (that I have sent to someone) still in my "outbox" does that mean the message didn’t get sent?... or that it is still unread? Or does it mean something else...?

When I think of "Outbox" I am thinking of what an outbox is in Outlook. In Outlook a message in your outbox means it didn’t get sent for some reason.
