Today I go looking for a house that will be sold at auction on Saturday. The place is remote and directions are difficult. After searching forever I pull down a road (a dirt one that seems to be mostly undeveloped) with two houses on it. The auction notice says 15 yr old log house. Neither of the houses is a log house, and of course theres no mailboxes or numbers. Luckily there's a man outside one house and when I ask him where the log house is he gives me explicit but long directions. Says I'm the second one there today- looking for "that log house", but luckily he knows where it is. So I go looking. Through state forests, down crazy desolate dirt roads. For 3 hours. No house. I give up and go home, and study maps and town info some more.
Sure enough the "log" part is a typo. Guess who's the one with the house up for auction? None other than the guy who has just sent me on that wild goose chase. I bet he had a good laugh on me tonight..lol.
