Tree Removal Permit to remove tree from rehab property.

Hi All,

I am partnered on a rehab and my partner has put in an application to  get a tree that is very close to the property removed. I've called the city and they say residential properties don't require a permit to remove a tree. Any reason why a permit would be required? The city the property is in is Valdosta, GA. This is my first project, but my partner is very experienced. Just trying to get some insight before asking him why he opted to get a permit for residential property.

Thanks,

Jordan

Here in illinois, some villages require a permit but most don't. The reason the villages claim they require a permit is to make sure you hire a licensed tree service. And the want the tree service to be licensed with the village - again so they can collect money.

I've got houses in several different towns around me including one thats further north than the rest. Worst town I've ever seen in my life.

Lansing Illinois.......

They actually required me to get a permit to remove the trash from a tenant move out. And the person I hired to do the trash out had to go down to the village to get licensed - to remove trash.

Their nonsensical logic is that anyone doing work in the village must be licensed and bonded. I asked the lady in the office if that means a kid cutting grass has to go down and get licensed and she actually said YES. She said her kid cut lawns this summer and he was licensed with the village.

Thats the kind of nonsense we deal with here in Illinois as these villages continue to lose their mind. I don't know who is running the show there in Lansing but its the greediest most corrupt town in any of the areas I'm in. The previous inspector supposedly was fired for playing games with inspections.  But the remaining people are still just as dumb.

I have never seen anything like it in my life. Can't wait to dump that house and move the equity closer to home and into a reasonable village.
