NEWBIE IN REAL ESTATE INVESTING

Hello Everyone,

My name is Matthew Binns, I just joined Bigger Pockets literally yesterday. I am 22 yrs old and a soon to be U.S Navy vet. My goals in life is that I want financial freedom, the ability travel, and generational wealth. I believe all this can be done through real estate. I am interested in single family/multifamily homes for rental purposes using either house hacking or the BRRRR method. I will be moving back to Ocala, FL and I am just curious to see if there are others who have invested in this area already? Would anyone recommend investing in rentals in this area or should I look somewhere else in Florida? Any input or guidance would be very helpful. Thank you, and I am looking forward to networking and getting to know more about real estate investing.

With you're ability to do VA loans, I'd definitely consider going for Multifamily. They can be kinda tough to find in this market, but living in one unit of a fourplex while renting out the other three is going to scale your wealth much faster than most other options. This stuff varies area to area and house to house, so feasibility really depends on running the numbers.
