Greetings!
I came across BiggerPockets while doing some initial research for a real estate business plan. My wife and I are looking to be a team as we build a portfolio of residential real estate to hold as rental properties. On the down the road, we may explore the possibility of becoming involved in commercial real estate.
I did purchase a duplex in 2008. It has been a great first experience as we have had decent tenants (for the most part) and very little vacancy. This past December we moved and turned our previous home into a rental. Fortunately we have great tenants there too.
I look forward to learning more about investing in real estate and the creative ways that individuals conduct business. My ultimate goal is to turn real estate investment into my full time job - though I know it will take several steps to get there!
Looking forward to an adventure! - Ashley Thompson

Welcome! It's always good to see a fellow Indiana investor. You mention real estate as a job....which you can do by flipping and wholesaling but buy and hold is the most beautiful "passive income" I've seen. Even the government agrees when they tax us at a lesser rate than a "job".
It's an exciting day when your rentals make more money than you do at your job :)
