New Investor from Northern Virginia

Greetings to the BiggerPockets Community!

My name is Mike O'Neill and I am a 29-year-old Cancer who likes quiet evenings in and long walks on the beach a brand new real estate investor hoping to add real estate holdings to my savings and investment portfolio. I recently finished law school, and would like to use any cashflow from future real estate holdings to supplement my income from my day job as a lawyer.

Since I don't have any plans to leave my day job (in energy law and policy), I think the buy-and-hold strategy appeals to me most. But of course, as a newbie, I'm anxious to learn about as many facets of the industry as I can.

I'm a long-time lurker, but first-time poster to the BiggerPockets forums, and am excited to get involved with such a diverse, active and engaged online community. I've read the Beginner's Guide and listened to just about every BP podcast, so I think I've got a good jump on the information gathering phase. I will also be joining my local REIA in the coming weeks. But I look forward to getting to know folks on the forums and learning more and more about real estate.

Best,

Mike
