First time Home Buyer outside of Baltimore in Glen Burnie, Md

Hello my name is Michael, I'm a 42 year old first time home buyer originally from Pennsylvania.  I  relocated to Maryland to be closer to my 4 year old son.  I currently reside in Glen Burnie, Maryland.  Not sure where I will purchase a home yet as I am researching the area and some what unsure of my surroundings. I would like to purchase a single family or a duplex and house hack to get started with my first purchase.  I do have a pre approval letter and a realtor I'm working with currently.  Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
