Hello everyone,

My name is Ben, I love cycling and I am new to BiggerPockets and eager to learn more about real estate. There is nothing in my professional background that links me to real estate except the burning interest in the topic. I am an aerospace engineer currently working on my Ph.D. at UM.

Years ago, when I was still living in Europe, I read the classic: Rich Dad, Poor Dad book. Definitely an eyeopener to not see your own home as asset. I did not take action but I would say the idea was planted in my head to do it differently in the future. Some years go by and now I am in the USA, and I want to learn more about the retirement/savings system here. I stumble over ChooseFI and I start listening to Jonathan and Brad Podcast for over a year whenever I get the opportunity. In the episodes about real estate, the BiggerPockets forum/podcast always got mentioned and I decided that I wanted to now start learning more about the topic. I start listening to the podcast and signed up here after a nice presentation from Brandon a week ago.

There is a lot I still have to learn, so I am opened to any book suggestions, local meet-ups in Miami etc.
