Need advice--Southern California

I'm new to Bigger Pockets. I'm a registered Nurse and I recently sold my home made some good money but the R.E in California is so inflated. I'm currently renting until I can find a deal that makes sense.  Should I be investing in rental property now? I'm also currently taking my R.E license exam!
