First time FHA 203k Buyer

Hey everyone I'm a newbie to bigger pockets and real estate general. I'm still very much in the learning stages. I plan on buying a duplex within the next year and learn as much as possible as I can in the mean time. I'm signing a yr lease however I am looking to buy in the spring, about 8 months from now. My question is, using FHA I know it has to be my primary residence but is there a period of time before I have to be fully moved in? I would like to use the 203k and some personal savings to fix up the property to refinance and hopefully get a small return. Do I have to be living in the property while reno is going on?
