Getting started in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Hey BP! My name is Zach Smith, I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I grew up helping my dad rehab single and multy-family homes in Ohio where he is a buy and hold investor (he would just call himself a guy trying to help pay a portion of his kids' student loans). I learned a lot but I'm not interested in doing all the work myself like we did when I was a kid. I am, however, very interested in the investment opportunity that Real Estate provides.

I've been educating myself as much as possible for the last year and as of right now I have just finished saving capital. I now have what I need to get started on my first single family home and have started searching for deals.

I'm planning to build up a solid portfolio of single and multi-family homes in this area for now. My eventual goal is to move into larger scale apartments sometime down the road.

I've read quite a few posts from other Northern Indiana investors about the local REIA meetings on the 3rd Saturday of each month but unfortunately my full time work schedule makes it very difficult to work in an odd Saturday like that. If anyone has any other suggestions on ways to connect with other investors in the area please let me know. I'd love to brainstorm deals and opportunities.

Any tips or suggestions are appreciated!

Happy investing!
