New to Investing / Hoping to learn and network: Raleigh, NC

Hey Everyone,

My name is Charlie, and my wife and I have lived in Raleigh for about 5 years now. I'm happy with my tech sales job, but getting tired of anyone besides myself controlling my time. Real estate seems like a great way to build wealth, and enough passive income to break free of Mon-Fri / 9-5.

My father invested in rental properties in Kentucky years ago, but seemed to fall victim to approaching it as a hobby instead of a business. I've been careful to avoid that issue, and spent the last few months trying to learn as much as I can. My wife and I closed on our first property last month (a townhome in the Clayton area). We're hoping to be done renovating in early June, and are actively looking for other real estate opportunities as well.

I would love to meet others in the area to learn more and see how we can help each other. We've really enjoyed working with our realtor so far, no complaints with the attorney, and have a connection with a solid contractor through my wife. I know a CPA is also extremely important, and we have a few seemingly good leads (but with tax season new appt times have been hard to come by).

Look forward to getting to know some of you better, and maybe even working together in the future!
