Starting Out in Huntsville, AL
Hi, my name is Paul. I live in the Huntsville, AL area. My wife and I got into real estate investing last year as a means to gain some financial freedom, diversification, and to subsidize our farming hobby.
We're buy and hold investing in multi-family properties right now, with one property closed this year and another very soon. So we'll have 8 units to start our portfolio. As a stretch goal, we'd like to try to get one more multi-family this year using creative financing. We are also interested in mobile home parks and commercial properties.
I agree with others on the postings and podcasts, in that if you look at the broad economic future for our country, and for whichever state you live in, it is a certainty that the Fed will continue to print money to distort the paper and other markets and that *actual* inflation will continue to rise. Having real, tangible assets makes me feel a whole lot better about the situation than relying on the stock market and a 401(k) to be useful.
Speaking of podcasts, after listening to Podcast 14, I want to thank Ben Leybovich for the inspiration to aim high and be more specific and intentional in our business plan. And I really like his buy and hold multi-family strategy. Thanks Ben!
I work full time, so real estate investing is a part time deal (and the fun part of my day).
I've been poking around on BP for awhile and I've found the content outstanding. I think it will be a fantastic resource and a great way to meet like-minded folks, and also hopefully to give back. If there are other Huntsville area investors out there (or close by - Nashville, B-ham, Auburn), I'd like to connect with you!
