Hello, BP!
I'm Kevin from the Tri-Cities (SE Washington). Long time BP lurker - I'm surprised it's taken me this long to sign up!
I caught the RE "bug" back around Memorial Day '05 after reading an article about an investor making some dang good money flipping houses. It'd be nice to say I jumped right in at that point and am writing my intro from the deck of my summer beach house. Not the case in reality... yet. I'm keeping the dream alive in my head, though!
The last eight years have been hard since starting work at a good enough job with a local government-controlled construction project. (those in this area most likely know which company) The job really only covers the bills, which is nice, but I'm ready for something "more", you know? I've wasted precious money on RE seminars, boot camps, online courses etc. I quickly learned from BP that most, if not all, gurus are crap, and they make it sound easier than it really is. I've been studying REI in one way or another since '05 - ready to actually apply the knowledge now and grow my business.
In the last couple of years, I've also come to the realization with my marriage, the birth of one kid, and another soon on the way, that this whole "life" experience will end someday and I'd like to enjoy it as much as possible with my growing family. So, enough crying about "what could have been" these last eight years - it's time to focus on "what will be" the next 50+.
Can't wait to connect with others in this area and abroad! I'm normally a positive person, so don't let my sob story above deter you from contacting or meeting me! (just had to get all that crud off my chest)
I'm doing what I can with what I've got to find my first deal. Whether it'll be a rehab, or simple assignment to another investor... we'll see. While where I start is a little fuzzy right now, I know I want to end up owning multi-family for some sweet passive income and big equity opportunities. I'm ready to hit those singles, doubles, and triples to get to the home run!
