Newbie in California

Chandra Tran
Posted

My name is Chandra, and I’m planning to invest in my first property this year. I currently live in the Bay Area, but I’m looking for a multifamily property in or near Davis, CA to house hack. As a creative person, I will be using creative financing to fund my deal. I’ve read Brandon Turner’s book — Investing in Real Estate with No (and low) Money Down, and it was really eye-opening. I’ve also delved into the BiggerPockets podcasts, and am enjoying the wealth of information that’s available.

I’d love to connect with fellow investors in or near Davis, as well as multifamily investors. Advice and suggestions are welcome! Especially on finding off-market deals and financing for commercial properties.

Hi Chandra, welcome to the REI community! If you ever need help assessing rents or deals in general let me know. We have a big foothold in Solano and Yolo county. There is a lot of variability in Davis. Small multifamily tends to be in the older range of builds 1950's-1960's. You can find these sprinkled around in Old Davis (downtown) and South Davis (south of 80) and other parts as well. You won't typically see small multifamily in West Davis (West of 113) at all. Hope this helps!
