Kevin From Clemson South Carolina
Well if you read the title you know my name is Kevin, and I’m obviously a new fish in this huge pond. I have spent the last six years doing a job I loved for people I’m not found of and have come to the harsh realization I need a change in careers and life. I got into real estate about 7 years ago and bought a house in foreclosure from a family friend….. (I know what you are all thinking DON’T mix friends/family and business). But, I did and it is what it is, right now that whole situation is stable and hopefully it continues to work. I’m not making any money on the house and it’s basically just a huge favor I’m doing for my friend who’s paying the mortgage. Lucky for me it’s a small mortgage and the house is in a very ideal location in Greenville SC and worth way more than the mortgage that I have on it.
Anyway skip 7 years ahead and like I said I’m currently looking for a job while doing one I loathe, and want to do real estate on the side. At this point I’m reading and trying to gather as much info as I can and bought a home in the process of all this research. Woops, did I forget to mention I’m buying a house… Yep my wife and I just bought a place near Clemson University and we are going to move in soon. We figured it would be a decent place to start and rent it out if we ever decide to move. The guy we bought from also rented it before we bought it and did so over the last 20+ years so we figured it would be a great place to start. So I have two places that I’m keeping for now, so I guess I would be in the Buy and Hold class at this point. My goal is to eventually get out of what I’m doing and maybe flipping a house a year and growing my knowledge as best as I can.
These forum threads are awesome and please feel free to contact me, networking is key from what I keep reading and I’m going to keep reading till I’m at least comfortable with the idea of real estate.
Cheers
Kevin
