moving to Ft. Hood, Texas

Hey Texans. We are relocating to Texas to work at Ft. Hood, very exited! My hubby is an Army officer. I am a Registered Nurse. We always been very interested in Real Estate Investment, but been busy with schools, kids. Now we have steady income, and some time to think about possible investment opportunities in Texas. We never lived here before. We are interested in long term investment to buy and hold option. Possible multifamily investment. Curious if I could get in contact with someone down there that could give me some information/advice about the real estate market between Killeen, Roundrock, TX and possible Austin. I have heard that Austin market is very competitive right now.

We still need to do a lot of research and beginner real estate investment reading. There are a lot of recourses. Where should we start classes, books, etc?

Thank you
