New Real Estate Agent looking for tips

Hey BP Community!

My name is Michael Boyle and I've just begun an exciting (hopefully) career in Real Estate. I live in Long Island, NY and am currently looking for a broker with whom to begin my career. I have a proven history in sales and relationship building but no experience in the real estate market. I know how important finding the right broker is and I'm hoping that this community is able to offer some general tips and/or area specific tips that may help me during this process.

I know there are a lot of different opinions on the pros and cons of working for a big brand vs a boutique firm. I'm confident in my ability to grow my business but am hoping to find myself in a position in the beginning where there is somebody who is willing to offer advice and show me the ropes. I of course know that nothing is free, and that type of relationship comes with it's own set of expectations. I just believe having somebody showing me the ropes in the beginning would be very helpful. So again, any tips/suggestions would be very welcome.

I thank you all in advance for your help.
