Newbie Excited to get started!

Hello everyone,

I'm Jimmy and I'm from the 757 area in VA, but currently residing close to STL on the Illinois side. My only background in real estate would be working in construction for 5 years, so everything is new to me. I have been listening to the BiggerPockets Podcast every night at work and have been reading one of the books. I am still very new to this, but I think what excites me the most would be the buy and hold and BRRRR method because of the ability of passive income to be able to retire. SFH and up to quads are what I think I will be looking into. I am still deciding which area I would want to invest. In VA my entire family is in construction and I would have an easy list of contractors for every need. Also, I still know the area a lot more in VA than I do in IL so I think that would be very helpful, but then I would have to look into learning out of state rentals. So right now I am just trying to soak up as much information as possible because I would very much like to start this journey at the beginning of the year. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated. Looking forward to learning with everyone else.

Thanks!
