Hello All -
Just noticed this forum and decided an introduction is in order. We are new to real estate investing (ish) and have already taken the plunge posting, perusing and using the many tools available here on BiggerPockets. Husband: Devin has a background in carpentry/handyman and home renovation. Wife: Kim currently working as a software engineer used to be a real estate agent in the same area we're investing in. We are super familiar with the market but starting this venture a bit later in life (mid-40s). Often posting to forums collaboratively so hopefully we won't confuse people!
So far we've read J Scott's book on flipping, listened to number of Brandon's videos, and becoming huge fans of Tarl Yaber. We've practiced running numbers on quite a few homes in our area and even reached out to some hard money lenders with very little success. Finding out others don't understand or see the value in investing in our area... interesting. We have a little money to invest that we thought would carry us pretty far but are getting a huge WAKE UP when contacting hml's. Learning something new everyday and getting itchy to act on some of our learnings. The videos and forums all talk about hmls lending based on the deal but that does not appear to be the case at all - well sure they'll fund you at 50% LTV and 12.25% interest because of course you surely can't be trusted to get things done as you've projected... you have NO EXPERIENCE! Ugh so frustrating... anywho
See you in the forums!
