Newbie Military REI in Minot, ND

Hello! I recently purchased my second home in Minot, ND while stationed here w/ the USAF. I used the VA loan on both homes and am wondering about strategies to extend my reach into more properties. I'm considering borrowing against my TSP (military 401K) to purchase more single family houses in the area. The word on the street is that multi-family housing is way over developed or I'd consider that option too. I hope to replicate this process as I move from assignment to assignment. I'm a sponge for information right now and appreciate any thoughts/ideas/suggestions!! Thanks in advance.
