Getting Started in Pittsburgh

Hi everyone, I've been devouring BP forum content for a while now (and binge listening to the podcast too) and decided it was finally time to introduce myself. I'm a husband and father from Pittsburgh, PA, working as a Software Engineer, and am just getting started in real estate investing.

I've loved real estate for a long time and have wanted to be an investor for a while. The ability to get great deals and generate long-term returns is really fascinating to me from an investment standpoint. My goal is diversifying my investment portfolio (currently mostly mutual funds), focusing on long-term returns via buy-and-holding single family rentals. Trying to find the right balance of low-stress and good returns with rental properties is something I've been thinking a lot about.

I've made a couple of (unsuccessful) offers on properties recently and was really hoping that my first forum post could be a first post/first deal combo, but I guess I'll just settle on introducing myself for now. Thanks to all of the active members and posting great content here! I'm really looking forward to joining in the conversations.
