Planning to invest in Indianapolis, living in San Francisco
Hello everyone!
My name is Mario Banks and I’m looking to start my journey into real estate investing. I work as a Software Engineer in San Francisco and my main goal is to gain financial independence through investing. I’ve listened to numerous podcasts in BP’s ‘Real Estate Rookie’ section and I am currently reading “Long-Distance Real Estate Investing” by David Greene. I plan to do long-distance investing targeting Indianapolis, IN (with an investing partner) and Detroit, MI (my hometown) in the future. Our goal is to purchase at least one property (Single / Multifamily) by the end of 2020, and utilize the “Buy & Hold” strategy. I’m looking forward to learning and connecting with you all!

Welcome to the Indy market!
We work with OOS investors primarily so we understand the issues that can go wrong if you're not entrusting your investment where it can be both physically and financially protected. Investing out-of-state is a great way to get into REI by stretching your dollars in a less expensive market and having creating passive income in areas with solid appreciation.
My best advice in these situations is to make sure you properly vet everyone you work with - even down to the handyman doing punch items. Make sure you work with licensed and insured contractors and realtors in the REI field who can accurately connect you with resources and assist you with costs and ARV projections.
Best of luck to you!
