Newbie from Long Island, NY
Hello everyone on this wonderful website. I was excited to begin my REI career before discovering this site. Now? I just can not wait!
My name is Robert Fabian and I am a teacher / contractor from New York. I have been been involved in remodeling homes since the age of 17. However, I have been swinging a hammer for much longer. I built my first tree house by myself at the age of 7. I would wake up early and be nailing away by 8 am. I always enjoyed and excelled at working with my hands. When I finally got the opportunity to learn the trade, I was a sponge! I found just about all aspects of home renovation easy to understand and to do. Carpentry is my specialty though.
After high school, I had no choice but to go to college. It wasn't an option. I wasn't aware at the time that there were majors in college that pertained to construction or real estate development. Thinking back now, I would have also liked to be an architect. Somehow, I wound up a history / education major.
My entire college career, I would work 7 - 5 fixing up homes. Then I would get changed in my car, wash up in bathroom at school, and sit in class until 10:30. At 22 years of age, I got a job teaching high school social studies. Shortly after, my cousin and I (also a teacher / carpenter), started our own renovation business.
I pretty much work my tail off. Leave to teach at 6:15 am and get home around 9 pm. Although I love both jobs, one makes sense and one makes me happy and fulfilled. In a school of 200 teachers, I am among the top. But I'm an even better renovator.
Now is my chance to finally start working for myself and to make some serious money. I am motivated beyond belief and know that I can over time turn $50k into a million. My brother, cousin and I are in the process of setting up an LLC to begin our venture. We plan on flipping a few smaller houses first to get our feet wet. In the process pick up a few rentals and then flip a few bigger houses. Our goal is to create many facets to our company. This includes property management. My brother works in finance, so he will mainly be the money guy. I will pretty much do all of the leg work and decision making. My cousin and I will do most of the renovations.
My goal is greatness and happiness. I can not wait to see where this journey takes me. I look forward to meeting some really inspirational and resourceful people here.
