New member looking to invest
Hi all! My name is Carlos Lizarraga, I’m new to the forums. Born and raised in San Diego I work for a roofing company right now.
I'm planning to move to Norfolk, VA in a couple of months because my girlfriend is stationed out there so I'm looking into buying a house. I've been wanting to get into real estate for about 6 months now (interested in buying/holding and flipping).
My plan right now is to buy a house out there, live in it until she gets stationed somewhere else or gets out, and either rent it out or sell when it’s time to leave. I figured this is a good way to get into real estate and was just looking at opinions on this.
Also, if anyone has any advice on the market in Norfolk or where I can start to research this please advise!

@Taylor Hudgins Thanks for the response Taylor! I haven’t quite looked into that too much. To be honest my girlfriend doesn’t know I’m looking to buy (she’s out for a deployment right now). I get that it could be a better investment for me, but what are the downsides to multi family? I’m assuming bigger down payment for sure?
