Los Angeles, CA. Looking for a second home!

Hi everyone!

My name is Frank and I have gradually began exploring real estate over the last few weeks as my curiosity has grown of what to do with my financial stability and overall savings. I am currently working as a case manager in Los Angeles for the developmentally disabled population and planning to return to school for a Master's in counseling psychology and license (somewhere 1-2 years from today).

My interest in RE came from my parents flirting with the idea that we could possibly rent out our current SFA Home and purchase a new home for us. In our planning we have came across many questions that none us were able to answer with much confidence. Should we refinance, purchase a home as new home buyers, how much should be invested in remodeling/down payment. Through doing some searches online I found BP and have began to understand the "big picture" of REI. Given my starting point, I found that our circumstances are better tailored to particular niches and strategies.

I've read through some of the beginner guides, some articles and heard some of the podcasts and now believe that RE estate can be stable source of passive income if planned out properly. For the past two-weeks, I've been dedicating 1-2 hours every morning to understanding the world of RE (online resources). I was also surprised with the little extra motivation this simple new routine added to my current work (I'm constantly trying to see how my current job can do more for my RE experience than be steady source of income).

Excited to be here!

Frank
