Newbie from Indianapolis- Want to Rent my House. Need Advice

Jason Brehm
Posted

Hello All,

My name is Jason and I live near Broad Ripple and CastIeton. I'm in healthcare consulting working at an accounting firm. I do not like my job and I don't know where to begin in search of a new career. My goal is to be my own boss and have financial freedom from working in the corporate world. I recently got engaged and am looking to move in with my fiance to save money before our wedding. That brings me to my current home.

I purchased my home in October 2018 for $180,000 with 20% down and 15 year mortgage. I've put almost $25,000 into the house with a major repair for the well water system. I've found a renter who is going to sign a 1 year lease at $1,600 per month. Does it make sense to rent or should I just sell?

Thanks,

Jason
