New to BP - Chicago and NW Indiana investor

Hello BP - I can't tell you how happy I am that I found this forum!  In the last week, I've learned more than I ever thought possible.

A little intro of myself:

I grew up in Northwest Indiana, and moved to Chicago after college.  I worked in the corporate world from 2002-2017, when a buyout was offered and accepted.    I took that buyout as a sign to get out of the rat-race for good!

My uncle and business partner (who is a semi-retired GC in Indiana) purchased a house to flip.  We did most of the work ourselves, and made money when it was all said and done.

After that, we purchased a duplex lot in a new-ish neighborhood, built a new 2-unit duplex (3bd/2bath each) and now have that rented out, with great tenants.  When we rolled our construction loan into a mortgage, we took cash out on that and bought the vacant lot across the street, and will begin construction on an identical duplex as soon as we get the permits and construction loan.

Since my partner is semi-retired, he doesn't have the energy to put into locating/fixing/flipping etc.  So our partnership is limited to the new construction for the foreseeable future.

My goals for 2020 aside from that are:

1) Find a multi-unit building in Chicago to house hack. Looking to take advantage of an FHA and owner-occupy for a year.

2) Network locally (Chicago or NWI)

3) Find multi-units to BRRRR and manage personally.

That's about it for right now!  I cannot wait to get things going in the city I love.

-Nathan
