Foreigner looking to invest in US

Hey there,

I'm from Ireland and looking to start investing in US real estate. Here in Ireland I'm self employed and manage a number of different properties. I'm also partnered up on a couple of deals here but I'd like to explore expanding into the US as I read a lot of books & listen to many podcasts about the US market.

Over the past few months I have been piecing together small bits of information but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions of books, podcasts, blogs etc that offer a lot of information on this type of situation.

I have been in contact with a number of banks in the US about acquiring finance but most of them are more geared towards helping foreign nationals purchase one property to live in while they move or work within the US. This type of situation doesn't apply to me at the moment. I have saved up a lot of money and could purchase a property in cash but I really don't want to deploy so much capital all at once. I'd prefer to leverage it to buy multiple properties.

If any hard money lenders could jump in and clarify if there is an option outside of traditional finance that I could avail of I would be happy to listen.

Also, I will be in Phoenix, Arizona next month for a week if anyone is interested in meeting up (Even if its only for a friendly chat) I'd love to hear from you too.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the great replies. I'll get in contact with each of you via direct message.

@Melanie Johnston I will be in Phoenix from the 4th to the 11th of February for a business event in the Talking Stick. I'd love to attend any RE meetups that are taking place during that time. As regarding finance, I haven't fully specified where exactly in the US I would like to invest. Sometimes with too many options it is worse than limited ones!

@Calvin Ozanick I'd love to organize a call with you sometime this week if possible. I'll message you to arrange a time & date.

@Charles Carillo I haven't the investment entities set up. Yes, I would be interested in reaching out to your recommended attorneys. I'll direct message you tomorrow regarding this.

@Colin G Murphy Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It's great to hear from someone who was in such a similar position. Yes, I do think I'll probably end up having to secure private money to complete my first deal/s. I will also get in touch with you tomorrow regarding the finance options that you mentioned above.
