New to Real Estate Investing in Cleveland

Hi! my name is Jack McMichael, I am 21 and currently in school at Kent State University studying Architecture. After both a strong interest in investing and architecture, I stumbled upon real estate investing which is up both of those alleys! My dad has some experience with real estate (owning a condo in Indiana) as well as my stepfather has flipped homes in both Ohio and Texas. Apart from that I am learning how to invest through books and a microcasette player that has tapes from a class my dad took 20 years ago.

My short term goal right now is just to test the waters and get involved in anyway I can. I would like to find a single family home around Cleveland that I could flip with the help of my family into a rental.

I would love to get to know people and their stories of how they got into real estate, and would greatly appreciate any advice they have to offer! Being I am a year and a half away from getting my BS in Architecture (I plan on getting a Masters and getting licensed) I was wondering what benefits an architect could have in this business? I have had a few internships where I worked on home renovations, a couple of projects I took on almost on my own (with trust from my bosses which l am thankful for) I can definitely see a few of the benefits but I am certain there are more I do not know!

I am here to learn, get to know people, and offer any help I can to you!
