New to BiggerPockets and Real Estate

Hey BiggerPockets! I am brand new to this as well as real estate in general. I am still reading the UBG but I wanted to get myself out there and meet some of you knowledgable people! I live in Lake Charles, Louisiana and am currently attending McNeese State University to obtain my bachelors degree in Business Management! Last semester I was working three jobs and still scraping by paycheck to paycheck every month with bills. When I came across and ad one day for BiggerPockets and the financial freedom real estate can provide I was hooked! I have been watching videos and listening to the podcasts already but I still don't quite know how to get started. A few things that have drawn my attention are flipping homes and owning mobile homes to rent out but I am not sure how to get started. Any and all advice is welcome! Thank you so much!

Hi Josh. I graduated from McNeese almost 10 years ago. I am also new to bigger pockets but plan to start in real estate when I get back to Lake Charles next year. If I had discovered the potential of real estate as you have while I was in college I would start with house hacking. You can buy a home with low money down. Rent out extra rooms to pay for your mortgage. And live for free.
