! New Investor in Chicago, IL !
Good Afternoon Bigger pockets, my name is Austin and I work within the Wealth Management industry. I recently moved to Chicago from Florida and have been renting. My lease gets up in June and I wish to start investing in real estate by pursing my first home hopefully living in it and flipping it after a year, while possibly house hacking during the time. I have also considered the idea of searching for 2-3 Flats and living in one and renting out the other ones. I’m looking to gain potential partners and find real estate organizations within Chicago. I’m wanting to get into real estate for the passive income stream. I’ve been listening to the Bigger pockets podcast for the past two years and I’m finally ready to make the jump in. I have already gone through various webinars but still feel uncomfortable with running the numbers in what to expect in repairs etc. due to not having done one before. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and excited for the 2020 year.

@Austin Drew I just read a BP thread on the risk factors of Chicago. You can make money in any market and living in Chicago will give you the local knowledge you'll need to navigate risk, but connecting with some of the people from that thread might be helpful as well. It was very pessimistic, but I think that could be helpful! I'll tag you there.
