Aspiring REI husband/wife duo in Charlotte NC

Hey BP, my wife and I live in Charlotte NC and we are learning everything we can about real estate and the local market. Our interest began after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad a few months ago. We've since read the Beginner's Guide to REI, The Book on Rental Properties, and currently reading the Unofficial Guide to REI. Our short-term goal is to replace my wife's income with rental income so she can stay home with our kids in the future. Long term goal is get us both out of corporate world, doing real estate full time and maybe some other entrepreneurial ventures. We are currently in the process of saving for that first down-payment, which will take +/- a year to do (unless we can find a way to speed that up). Within that time, we want to meet local investors and learn what's working best in our market, and where.

About us: we met through instagram. We're 28 years old and will be married 5 years at the end of this month! I am originally from Folsom CA, she is from Mt Holly NJ. We both work in finance and love craft beer. We love to work as a team, and work hard.  Together we paid off all of our student loans and car loan ($85k) in 20 months, and we want to apply that same work ethic to real estate. We look forward to connecting with you all!

I am in a similar boat as you as my fiancée and I are looking to start investing in the South Charlotte area. I would recommend attending some of the meet-ups they have as I went to the monthly 1st Tuesday meetup at Resident Culture and meet a lot of great people.
