Somewhat New from Grand Rapids, MI

Good Afternoon!

I have been a member of BP since 10/2018 but have not invested much time posting, mostly lurking/reading. That is going to change today and I look forward to looking back on this post in 5-10 years!

About me:

I am a father of 3. 2 girls and a boy. I am originally from Allentown, PA (Born and raised). I moved to Grand Rapids, MI about 3 years ago. I live in Rockford, MI just outside of GR. My wife is from here and her family has roots in this area (My in-laws are 4th gen of Sweetlands Candies and Coffee, for you locals). I currently work in the building products industry as a Territory Sales Manager for an exterior cladding manufacturer called Tando. I have been in the industry for almost 12 years now. Hobbies: Too many to list, you need to try everything at least once, right??? my favorites are Stand Up Jetskiing, Snow Skiing, Fly Fishing,mountain biking and pretty much anything with a motor.

REI Interest: I have a been a big proponent of forums ever since I got into cars back in high school many moons ago. The friendships I have made through my jetski, car/jeep, fishing, mountain biking and skiing forums have opened my eyes to many experiences and opportunities I would have never stumbled upon unless I moved outside my comfort zone. I am looking forward to develop lifetime relationships via BP forums! My top interest in investments right now are multifamily, Single family, Mobile Home Parks and Self-Storage. Maybe some vacation rentals if it makes sense to round out the portfolio.

My Why?

My career in the building products industry has been challenging, fun, demanding, time consuming etc just like any job. One thing that I have appreciated is the flexibility but that did not come without a cost. Time away from family. My wife and I both work. I have been traveling back and forth every other weekend for the past 3 years to spend time with my son (He lives in PA with his mom). My family is my #1 priority and I want to work towards creating a better future for them and granting us more time for us all to be together. On top of that I want to generate capital to reinvest into affordable housing. I am passionate about breaking through the noise and helping others truly in need. For Example I want to expand upon that and help felons get back on their feet within the local community. I will help the construction industry focus on more sustainable and cost effective multifamily dwellings. This all doesn't happen alone as this is a team sport.

I am an open book and wear my heart on my sleeve. This industry has captured my mind and heart. There are so many names I could list from podcasts, to linkedin connections, instagram accounts etc who have impacted me to work towards this shift in Q4 of 2019 into 2020. 

Current Project: I am currently working on a 300+ unit complex in Lansing, MI its not under contract but very close. This is a big undertaking for my partner and I but have loved the process so far and hence the reason I am taking the leap on BP. I prefer to be a silent assassin in business as I am naturally introverted but moving forward I want to meet like minded individuals to help grow each others business.

-What has been your favorite networking event outside of BP Annual conference? (Im intrigued by the Best Ever REI conference in Keystone, CO. Skiing and REI, thats a tough combo to beat!!)
