24 year old truck driver ready to transition into Real Estate

Hello everyone my name is Dyon and I am currently a full time truck driver and although I don’t have my RE license yet I am really interested in the day to day life as an agent and investor. I’m ready to connect to people more often than I do now. I am a mathematician and problem solver.

I’m interested in buy and hold investing, specifically multi-family and commercial properties.

I currently have no saved capital, however, I have people dear to me in my corner that have capital and are willing to invest with me if I become RE literate. No one around me know that much about real estate, however, I do have successful people in my corner in other aspects of business ready for me to make this transition into RE full time.

I’ve done my homework on RE. As a truck driver instead of listening to music I play RE podcasts. I want countless videos on the work as a RE agent.

If you have any advice for me to make the correct choices for long term success in this business please do not hold back.

Welcome  @Dyon Moore

Being a truck drive you have lots of free time on the road.  That's the perfect opportunity to listen to a ton of BP podcasts. There are packed with information and are very inspirational.  You can also use that time to interview members of your future team.  Get a list of lenders, realtors, investors in your area and property managers.  Ask them tons of questions and listen for opportunities where you can add value to their service as well.  Just don't try and take notes while you are driving, I am on the road as well and value my life :)

Congrats on deciding to invest In real estate. My advice is to save as much money as you possibly can and setup a good budget for yourself. Even if you have other investors who want to work with you. Keep on educating yourself.

Seconding @Scott Rogers. The cons of listening to the podcast on the road is that you'll want to write EVERYTHING down. My dad drives a truck as well and complains about this all the time. Listen to them and maybe skim the transcript when you get home to take some notes.

    @Nicole Heasley thank you I will do so. Taking notes in school was my worst thing to do because I never used them on tests and looked at them on my own time.

    @Dyon Moore that is exciting. I got my license last year right after I graduated high school. The biggest thing is being knowledgeable. There are a lot of RE "professionals" but they don't have a clue of what they are doing. Keep soaking up as much knowledge as possible. For the agent side i'd listen to Tom Ferry, Ricky Carruth, and Ryan Serhant. For investing this is the best place to be. As an agent myself investors are the best to work with and provide consistent business. Hope you crush it and can start a new career.

    @Caleb Brown that’s great man right out of high school? My plan is to present this to my nieces and nephews when they graduate high school in a few years. I hope this moves them to have interest in RE fresh out of high school also.
