Hello from Columbia, MO
Hello BP!
My name is Skander Yalaoui, I've been a Mid-MO denizen for over 30 years. I'm a pharmacist and work in Jefferson City. I love personal finance, wealth building, and REAL ESTATE. I've been listening to the podcast for a couple months and have found the website very informative. Every few years I get super charged about Real Estate and every time I analyze until I paralyze. I've known people here and there in RE with varying levels of success. RE is a very attractive asset class for me and I've promised myself this time, I'll make a plan and actually move on it.
I'm interested in SFR and small Multi-Families (duplex). I've researched quite a bit about turn key rentals (especially on Roofstock.com), I found it attractive because of low time-commitment because I work full-time and am a single father. I don't like the fact that I have very little control, am pretty much at the mercy of the property managers, and I would own property in an area I don't know very well. Plus it seems I'll learn very little about real RE investing in the mean time. BRRRR investing is very, VERY appealing to me. Forced equity sounds great, BRRRR forces you to learn about real estate deals in total (searching, offering, lending, contractors, auctions). BRRRR also seems to have a sharp learning curve and you need to have a really good team of trusted professionals helping you along. I'm in the midst of reading David Greene's book and he makes it sound feasible for a guy filling the 40 and has no handyman skills. I'd love to do more networking and get to know Realtors, Contractors, Wholesalers, and Lenders in the Mid-MO area. I'm interested in the areas of Columbia, Hallsville, and Ashland.
Sorry for rambling introduction! Seems like the community is fantastic and the site is well-run. I have some capital to invest and my goal is to buy a property before Christmas this year.
Best Regards,
Skander Yalaoui
