New to investing. Rooted in Dayton TN. Looking to learn / grow
Greetings BP veterans,
I would like to start off by introducing myself, I'm Jason Brock. I was born in Northern Kentucky, grew up in Tennessee and became a man in Southern California. I left for Navy bootcamp in 1993 near Chicago, Ill, where I learned that I never want to be there again in the winter, brrrrrr. lol. Any of y'all that are from there, bless your heart! If anyone remembers the winter of '93 - it was a cold one (around 80 below). We wore our entire locker full of clothes, just to walk to the chow hall. After graduation, I got to flap my wings to sunny San Diego. I spent around 16 years off and on in San Diego as a Navy Corpsman with Marines, Team guys and eventually on ship, 6 years in Washington, DC as a Respiratory Therapist and about 4 months or so in San Antonio, Tx for training - good times!
I completed almost 23 years and retired to my home state of TN. Upon retiring, I got into Project Management in Construction; one of the many hats that we wear as Navy Chiefs. Currently, I work full time with a Site Work Contractor. It is a decent gig, good folks, but I have always dreamed of working with others on my terms versus someone else's. Which lead me to real estate investing. Sure I was clueless and went to one of those "gurus." It really opened my eyes to the availability of investing. Originally, I thought that I needed to have extensive real estate education or be an agent. Come to find out, I didn't need brick and mortar learning, I need kick in the teeth experience to shape and mold my real estate education, oh and networking.
My ultimate goal with investing is simple. I wish to travel frequently with my 6 (eventual 8) children, pass on a legacy to them, and fuel my passion for helping veterans. I see myself doing this in over the course of 20 years by building up to a minimum $10,000+ /month net profit for the family household, after paying expenses, money for reinvestment, and my nonprofit work.
I found bigger pockets through a podcast search for real state investing so that I may increase my corporate knowledge of the real estate lingo. I listen to it everyday and so far I am on episode 46. Wow, what a resource. Anyway, I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself and I look forward to connecting with y'all as we grow "rich" slowly together.
Thank you for your time and attention!
Sincerely,
Jason
