Real-Estate Investing Newbie from Dallas, TX! :)

Monica Huynh
Posted

Hi all, my name is Monica Huynh. My interest in Real Estate investing came, like many others, after I read 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad'. Quickly after I started reading, I wanted no part in the "rat race" and wanted my money to work for me and hope to be financially independent by the time I'm 40, if not sooner! I'm 27 years old and I really wish I read the book when I graduated high school! I came across Bigger Pockets by constantly listening to financial/investing podcast learning as much as I could with just the commute home from work. I started with Afford Anything by Paula Pant, Stacking Benjamins, Wholesaling Inc., and of course Bigger Pockets!

I currently work as a Business Development and Marketing professional for an engineering firm in the Dallas area.  I love what I do but could never see myself doing this for the rest of my life and always wanted to be my own boss and work on my own time. I also have a 4-year-old daughter that I feel I don't spend enough time with because I work 9/hours a day. I'd also want to leave behind a financial legacy with her.

Being in BD, my networking skills are pretty good and have always been told I would be great with real-estate by friends and family. Unfortunately, I don't have a huge savings account and am looking forward to learning how to get started with real-estate with little to no money down. I'm also looking for seminars but don't know how to differentiate between a legit one or a sales-scam. These seminars are not cheap! Any and all tips are welcome!! I'm really looking forward to being a part of this community and changing my life forever! :)
