San Antonio, TX - New to Bigger Pockets

Posted

Greetings from San Antonio, TX!  I've spent my adult career in the Air Force (11 years, medical equipment repair) and then transferred into financial services (5 years, Risk Management / Program Management / Data Analysis).  I've always been interested in property investing as is evidenced by my addiction to any book or television show that has to do with real estate.  I find the whole world of real estate investing intriguing; but, if I had to pick a focus area, I would say that buy and hold rental properties are most appealing to me as my goal is to build long-term wealth.  Now, having said that, my wife and I have bought and sold 4 houses in the past 5 years (all were primary residence purchases that we fixed up).  We didn't buy any of those with the intention of making them an investment, but various reasons have led us to sell our homes soon after fixing them up; so, that makes me feel like I can call myself an investor now.  Now, my goal is to actually start purchasing properties with the intention of using them as rental investments (residential, single family is what I'm interested in).

I'm on the look out for any events where I can meet other like-minded folks to talk real estate.  I'll stop here and very much look forward to meeting and learning from the community (and, hopefully I'll be able to add some value too).
