Newbie from McKinney Tx at a career crossroads

James Baxter
Posted

Hi, I'm David Baxter and I live in the North DFW area, I have worked in IT most of my adult life and moved over to the business side about five years ago in a Business Relationship Management role.  I am at the point in my career (later than some, earlier than others) where I am starting to consider an exit strategy to retirement, and hoping to do it early within be there within the next ten years.

I recently became interested in Real Estate investing and started watching the BP podcasts.  I stumbled across BP while looking at other real estate videos about buying rental properties, then while talking with a friend discovered he is a big BP fan and has been watching and following BP for a while now.

I love the idea of house hacking and the BRRRR strategy and would love to get started. Ironically after a long stint (12 years) with my previous company I find myself out of work and potentially looking to make a career change. I have a little bit of savings that I would like to use to begin investing, but due to the loss of my previous job I don't feel comfortable tapping into those funds until the job situation is resolved. However, I am considering using some of the strategies Josh, Brandon and David talk about all the time in order to get started with little or no money down. I am reading what I can, watching the podcasts, and looking at attending the local meetups as often as I can to get started.

I greatly appreciate the work the team has done to create this site and the content they have produced!
