Just getting started in Atlanta Georgia

Hello everyone!

My name is Jason Heard and I've joined Bigger Pockets to start networking and educating myself as it pertains to real estate related investments. I am originally from Augusta, Georgia, but have lived in Italy, Belgium, Maryland, and California. I currently reside in the greater Atlanta Metro Area where I am employed as a Software Engineer.

My background in real estate is minimal. I've always had an interest in it and have done some minor research, but nothing serious until now. Currently, I am mortgaging my primary residence and have a goal to own it, free & clear, no later than 2020. In the meantime, my wife and a colleague at work have encouraged and inspired me to buckle down and educate myself in preparation for entering the rental market as a lessor. Both of whom referred me to the educational materials on Bigger Pockets! I started with the introductory course and have already learned about 203K loans, seller financing, and the pros and cons of lease option agreements!

Initially, I would say that my goals as a real estate investor would be to educate myself as much as possible and expand my network so that I can recognize a good deal on a rental property, get the process started building out my team, purchasing the property, and securing a tenant. I'm of the thought that it's never good to have all of your eggs in one basket, so the additional stream(s) of income would be a welcome addition! Secondly, I would hope to be able to provide quality housing options for those who cannot or are not in the market of financing or purchasing their own home. A long term goal would be to establish a position to where I could give back to the communities that I am invested in, and educate & inspire the next wave of real estate investors.

Well that's me in a nutshell! I look forward to getting to know you all and starting this amazing journey!
