Newbie from Brooklyn, NY Looking to invest in Detroit

Hi BP Fam! I am a former corporate attorney, looking to plunge back into the real estate investing world after a lackluster beginning attempt in the Florida market 15 years ago. I've been doing a lot of research, reading and podcast listening over the past couple of weeks and came across BiggerPockets along the way. I've learned a lot, but have a lot of questions--especially about how to identify good markets/neighborhoods. Currently, my goal is to start with passive investing in SFRs to buy, rehab and hold for cash flow. I really would love to receive any advice on how best to approach long distance rehabbing and how to find a good contractor from afar. Although it's risky, I am interested the Detroit market.

I look forward to networking and connecting with the members and experts on this site!
